Reading the specification

The number that matters for an epoxide is not only assay but epoxide equivalent weight (EEW), calculated from molecular weight and functionality; dosing in a cure or a chain extension follows EEW, not mass. For this series, chain length controls the practical properties: shorter chains are more volatile and more reactive per gram, longer chains give lower shrinkage, better hydrophobicity and slower cure. Store sealed – epoxides ring-open in the presence of acid, base or water, and the resulting glycol shows up as a falling EEW.
