Rubber accelerator D (also called DPG), CAS 102-06-7 (1,3-diphenylguanidine), is a guanidine-type accelerator and secondary accelerator. It is a strong, fast accelerator on its own and is widely used as a secondary accelerator and activator with thiazole and sulfenamide accelerators, and in latex compounds. PolyBlueChem supplies it to the specification below with per-batch COA and SDS.
Specifications
| Parameter | Specification |
|---|---|
| Appearance | White or grey powder |
| Initial melting point | 144 °C min |
| Heating loss | 0.30% max |
| Ash | 0.30% max |
| Sieve residue (150 µm) | 0.01% max |
The very low sieve-residue limit (0.01% max) reflects a finely divided, free-flowing powder. A specification sheet and a certificate of analysis for each batch are available on request.
Basic Information
| CAS number | 102-06-7 |
| Synonyms | Rubber accelerator D; DPG; 1,3-diphenylguanidine; diphenylguanidine; D |
| Molecular formula | C13H13N3 |
| Molecular weight | 211.27 g/mol |
| Type | Guanidine accelerator / secondary accelerator |
Applications
- Secondary accelerator – used with thiazole (MBT/MBTS) and sulfenamide accelerators to raise cure rate and modulus.
- Latex compounds – a common accelerator for latex dipping and foam.
- Thick rubber goods and hard rubber – ebonite and high-modulus compounds.
- General rubber – NR, SBR and blends.
DPG is a very active accelerator; a small addition speeds up the cure of thiazole/sulfenamide systems. Because it can cause scorch if over-used, levels are set with care and confirmed by cure testing.
Packaging and documentation
- 25 kg PP/PE bags or fibre drums; keep sealed, cool and dry.
- Per-batch certificate of analysis (COA) and safety data sheet (SDS).
