Accelerator MBTS (also called DM), CAS 120-78-5 (2,2′-dibenzothiazyl disulfide), is a thiazole-type rubber accelerator. It is a general-purpose accelerator with good scorch safety, widely used on its own or with a secondary accelerator (such as DPG) in tyres and technical rubber goods. PolyBlueChem supplies it to the specification below with per-batch COA and SDS.
Specifications
| Parameter | Specification |

Applications
- Tyres – treads, carcasses and other tyre compounds.
- Technical rubber goods – belts, hoses, footwear, mouldings.
- Secondary-accelerated systems – used with DPG or other accelerators to adjust cure.
- General rubber – NR, SBR, BR, NBR and blends.
MBTS is a moderately fast thiazole accelerator with good processing safety. It is the disulfide counterpart of MBT; the two are related thiazole accelerators, with MBTS generally giving better scorch safety and less tendency to bloom.
