Santogard PVI, CAS: 17796-82-6

Santogard PVI, CAS 17796-82-6 (N-(cyclohexylthio)phthalimide), is a pre-vulcanisation inhibitor (anti-scorch agent). Added in small amounts, it extends the scorch time of rubber compounds so they can be processed and stored safely, then allows a normal cure. It is particularly useful in high-temperature and high-shear processing. PolyBlueChem supplies it to the specification below with per-batch COA and SDS.

Basic Information

CAS number 17796-82-6
Synonyms Santogard PVI; PVI; N-(cyclohexylthio)phthalimide; N-cyclohexylthiophthalimide; pre-vulcanisation inhibitor
Molecular formula C14H15NO2S
Molecular weight 261.34 g/mol
Type Pre-vulcanisation inhibitor (anti-scorch / retarder)

Applications

  • Scorch control – extends scorch safety in fast-curing or high-temperature compounds.
  • Processing and storage safety – reduces the risk of premature vulcanisation during mixing, extrusion and stock storage.
  • Tyres and technical goods – treads, compounds processed at high temperature.
  • Compounds with active accelerators – used where a highly active accelerator would otherwise scorch.

PVI is used at low levels. It delays the onset of vulcanisation, so the compound can be shaped and stored, then cures normally once the cure temperature is reached – improving both process safety and product consistency.

Packaging and documentation

  • 25 kg PP/PE bags or fibre drums; keep sealed, cool and dry.
  • Per-batch certificate of analysis (COA) and safety data sheet (SDS).
