β-Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate, disodium salt (NADP-Na2, CAS 24292-60-2) is the oxidised form of the phosphorylated pyridine nucleotide coenzyme used in NADPH-dependent enzyme systems. PolyBlueChem supplies NADP disodium salt in two commercial forms – an aqueous solution (assay ≥75%) and a powder (assay ≥98%) – with per-batch COA and SDS.
Specifications
| Property | Aqueous solution | Powder |
|---|---|---|
| Form | Clear aqueous concentrate | Freeze-dried / spray-dried powder |
| Assay | 75% min (in solution) | 98.0% min (HPLC, dry basis) |
| Grade | Biotransformation grade | Biotransformation grade |
| Appearance | Colourless to pale yellow liquid | White to slightly yellow powder |
| Water content | n/a (solution) | Confirmed per batch on the COA |
| Storage | 2-8 °C, protected from light | -20 °C, sealed, protected from light and moisture |
Both forms are the same molecule: the solution is the practical form for direct dosing into a bioreactor, the powder is the practical form for long-term storage and for building your own buffer. Assay figures are stated on a different basis for the two forms (in-solution vs dry basis) and are not directly comparable – confirm which basis your SOP requires.
Why the salt form matters
| Form | CAS | Sodium per mole | Practical note |
|---|---|---|---|
| NADP free acid | 53-59-8 | 0 | Lowest sodium load, but limited solubility; usually converted to a salt before use in enzyme systems |
| NADP monosodium (NADP-Na) | 1184-16-3 | 1 | Half the sodium of the disodium salt; chosen when the assay or enzyme is sodium-sensitive |
| NADP disodium (this product) | 24292-60-2 | 2 | Standard commercial form; best solubility and the usual choice for regeneration systems |
| NADPH tetrasodium (reduced) | 2646-71-1 | 4 | Reduced coenzyme; four sodium per mole, so check the ionic strength of the final reaction |

Applications
- Biocatalysis – co-substrate for NADPH-dependent oxidoreductases: cytochrome P450 monooxygenases, ketoreductases, enoate reductases and fatty-acid synthases; normally paired with a regeneration system (glucose-6-phosphate/glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase, isopropanol/alcohol dehydrogenase, or a phosphite dehydrogenase system).
- Enzymatic synthesis – cell-free routes where NADP(H) recycling drives the reduction step.
- Research – NADP+/NADPH biochemistry, oxidative-stress and glutathione-reductase assays.
Supplied as a biochemical reagent for manufacturing and research use; not offered for therapeutic claims.
Handling, storage and documentation
- The aqueous solution should not be frozen and thawed repeatedly – aliquot if the container will be opened more than a few times.
- NADP is hydrolysed in strongly acidic or alkaline media; keep solutions near neutral pH and protect from light.
- Per-batch COA and SDS supplied; concentration and assay method statements available on request.
- Packaging: bottle/flexibag for solution, foil or drum for powder; fill volume agreed against your dosing requirement.
